When venting doesn’t help

Bent out of shape about your boss? By an unrealistic exec? Unreasonable client?

It can help to let it out to someone you trust. But, since venting endlessly about something probably won’t help you, be sure to look ahead as you “debrief” with your friend, SO, or co-worker.

Often their empathy is all the release you need. If it’s not, you’ll know because you’ll still be re-hashing the frustrating situation or person in your head.

If your ruminating doesn’t decrease after a good venting session, you may need to voice a complaint directly to the person, especially if you tend to feel better when standing up for yourself, regardless of if it has any real impact.

He’s a formula to make it easier: When you ______, I felt _______, because I need _______. Would you please_________?
