Words are inadequate
We often expect our words to bridge the gap, to give us access to the full and enjoyable communication we hope for.
This unreasonable expectation can leave us wanting.
Wishing we had said it differently.
Struggling with anxiety or anger, looking for a way out.
Let’s recognize that part of being human is the inadequacy of language.
Let’s accept that there will always be a gap between what we say and what is heard.
Let’s remember that others hear according to their own preferences and references.
