Talking to someone more senior?
To persuade senior leaders try using the Minto Pyramid.
Start with the Conclusion: Begin your communication with a clear and concise statement of your recommendation or conclusion.
Provide Evidence: Follow up your conclusion with the evidence that supports it. This could include data, research, or examples.
Explain the Implications: Discuss the implications of your recommendation or conclusion. This could include the benefits, risks, or costs.
Make a Recommendation: Conclude your communication with a specific recommendation or call to action.
“I think we need to improve our team morale. People seem stressed and overwhelmed. In my opinion, we need to better prioritize, improve our communication, and create a more positive environment. If we don’t, people will continue to burn out. Can I recommend we get a DiSC training into help us communicate better?”
