Following up with supportive style communicators

Some people speak diplomatically, even-temperedly, calmly, and in an accommodating way. They may be good listeners, and supportive. Maybe they avoid conflict, act cautiously, or not speak up about their own needs.

In the language of DiSC, these are “S” or Steadiness Style.

These are the people who may need more support or reassurance in follow-up emails.

Because support is so important to them, when following up with these folks, show your support with phrases like “Do you have everything you need?” or “How else can I support you?”

Involve them by focusing on how their work affects them and their relationships, help them prioritize, be careful not to criticize them personally, and keep it specific and focused.

Keywords: Stability, support, and collaboration.
