Clear goals for remote teams
Post-pandemic, some companies are resorting to invasive employee monitoring with things like time-tracking software or even measuring keystrokes.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says, not only is that an inaccurate way to measure productivity – for example, for me, writing is a lot more thinking than typing – but worse, it degrades trust.
His advice? Get back to the basics of setting clear business goals. “Really make sure that you’re very clear, as leaders and managers, about what the goals of the company or the team are, setting the norms for how people collaborate and communicate.”
When goals are clearly understood, you can stop worrying about productivity and focus on whether those goals are being met and why.
