Anger stays in your body

I once heard Kerwin Rae talk about how our own anger can affect us physiologically.

He said it takes our body 7 hours to recalibrate hormonally and biochemically after one short bout of anger. That’s 7 hours of impaired judgment, brain fog, and even a compromised immune system.

Your feelings are your feelings, and you should experience all of them, but please know that anger hurts YOU.

And, as I have written in this blog, there are constructive ways to communicate that you’re angry and to communicate with someone else who is angry.

Here’s a Confident Communicator Challenge for the day.

When you sense that you’re getting angry, pause and think about if it’s worth it, even if your anger is justified.

Is this person or situation really the source of the anger, or just a trigger?

Is showing my anger helpful or needed?

How will my expression of anger affect my relationship with those present?

After all, 7 hours is a long time.
