Your next 1 on 1
Are one-on-one’s with your staff or boss as authentic and productive as they should be?
If you’re like most of us, probably not.
But, as Susan Scott says in Fierce Conversations, “The conversation is the relationship.”
This week, the Daily Tip will relay her five suggestions about how to make work one-on-one’s more meaningful and helpful. These tips, are great, even for important conversations outside of work.
Suggestion #1: Be consistent
Let’s start with how you show up.
The people we trust most in our lives are the ones who are consistently authentic, right?
If your supervisee or boss doesn’t know how, or who, you are going to be in your one-on-one, they will be less likely to trust you or believe you’re listening.
Be intentional. Be your best self. Even if you’re having a bad day. It’s ok to say so.
Tomorrow, we’ll discuss how to get started.
