There are only 3 choices

In a recent workshop, a leader confessed that one of her executives just wasn’t pulling his weight, no matter how many conversations she had. She had even put him on a performance plan, and he didn’t change his behavior.

My response?

I asked her about the impact on the rest of the team and her reputation. “What does this say about you?” I asked.

Harsh, but inaction is communication.

When you have a tough decision to make, you have 3 choices.

You can end it. You can change it. Or you can live with it.

There are no other options.

It’s fine if you’re choosing to live with it, but recognize the consequences.
