The SIM Test
Here’s a fun one to determine if you were present and engaged in a conversation. It’s from How to Be a Power Connector, by Judy Robinett.
After you speak with someone, ask yourself three questions:
What Surprised me?
What Inspired me?
What Moved me?
If you can’t answer the SIM questions, you probably weren’t listening. You were absorbed in your own thoughts. Maybe about how boring the conversation was?
