Questions aren’t arguments

Ever felt misunderstood because of all the questions you ask?

If you’re someone with C-style tendencies in the DiSC model, this might sound familiar. They’re not trying to argue or slow things down. They just need clarity.

Those of us with a Conscientious Style value accuracy. We want to understand every angle before making a decision or moving forward. For us, asking questions isn’t a challenge—it’s about gathering the information needed to get things right.

But here’s the tricky part: to others, all those questions can seem like resistance.

If you have C-Style tendencies, try this: frame your questions by explaining your intention. Instead of diving straight into, “Why are we doing it this way?” you might say, “I want to make sure I understand the reasoning, so I can do my part effectively.”

And if you work with a C-Style? Recognize that their need for precision isn’t about nitpicking—it’s driven by a deep-seated need for quality, accuracy, and complete understanding. (Yes, we can get bogged down in analysis). Be patient with their questions. They’re trying to help, not hinder.
