Once you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are

What do you signal about yourself when you say:

  • “I can’t do that” rather than “I chose not to do that because…”

  • “I don’t have time” rather than “I have to work on this other high-priority project.”

  • “Leave me alone” rather than “Give me a minute.”

  • “Your work is bad” rather than “I think you can do better.”

  • “It’s easy” rather than “You can do this”

  • “That’s not my job” rather than “I can’t do this by myself.”

Les Brown said, Once you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are.
