How to make them feel seen and valued

It’s Friday, let’s keep it short with another tip from my pal Neil and his demanding boss.

Neil’s boss is the type of person who could successfully run a Fortune 500 corporation. She’s often the first person in the building in the morning. She sends emails at 2 in the morning, a lot. She knows everything going on in her organization. She’s fierce, direct, effective, and inspiring…and, truthfully, a little feared.

But she also makes people in her large organization feel seen and valued.

One of her main techniques is to light up when she sees someone and say, “I was just thinking about you…” and launch into something related to that person’s life or job.

Neil is sometimes skeptical that she was just thinking about him, when she says this, but she makes him feel that she was.

Have a good weekend. I’ll be thinking about you.
