Getting their attention

Do you work with a direct-style co-worker who is confident, direct, and fast-moving, maybe to the point of valuing results over other’s emotions?

In the language of DiSC, we call these folks “D” Style communicators.

Because they think so fast and are confident in their decisions, you’ll have to find a fast, direct way to disagree, in a way they’ll hear it.

Try this.

Just say, “What if…”

Don’t make some long, detailed speech, just introduce doubt. Get them to think of the downsides of their approach, on their own.

Once you have their attention, they’ll be more open to listening.
