Be a student of human nature

It’s Friday. Let’s keep it short.

It’s natural to want to jump in and make your points when someone else is speaking.

But when you’re listening to respond, to be right, to be liked, etc. you will miss important information (words, body language, nuance, etc.)

Marcus Aurelius was an exceedingly rare leader who had tremendous power but remained supremely aware of his ego. He used every encounter as an opportunity to figure out the other person and learn more about human nature in general.

You can’t do this when you’re the one talking.
