Henry Ford took two engineers out to dinner, looking to hire one. After the meal, Ford thanked one candidate for his time and hired the other on the spot.

The first candidate drew up the courage to ask why the other guy was hired when they had equal qualifications.

Ford gave two reasons.

Well, he said, the other engineer tried his meal before adding salt, which showed a willingness to understand something before making changes to it.

Second, he said, the other engineer was respectful to the restaurant staff, not just to the people he was eating with. You didn’t even acknowledge the waitress.
