Instead of giving unsolicited advice, do this

Happy Friday everyone. I’ll keep today’s Daily Tip super short.

When we know we can help, but aren’t sure how to give someone our unsolicited advice, one of the worst ways to start the conversation is to say, “Can I give you some unsolicited advice?”

This has backfired on me more than a few times.

Now, I say, “Can I make an observation?”

This softer approach has less of an edge and opens people to hearing your perspective, rather than your critique.

What phrases do you use to prime people for what’s coming?

Have a good weekend.
