Impress your boss

The best employees are self-managing, maybe even willing to make their boss’s life easier. Here’s three strategies to impress your boss.

Instead of Overwhelming Them, Prioritize Your Tasks

Rather than bombarding your boss with a long to-do list, show them you can manage your time effectively by prioritizing your own tasks, proactively telling them what are your most important or urgent tasks.

Instead of Asking How They Want It, Be Proactive

Don’t shift the mental load onto your boss by asking what they want you to work on, or how to do something. Demonstrate your own initiatives by coming to them ready to discuss proactive ideas that align with your company’s and your manager’s goals.

Instead of Ignoring What’s Going On Above You, Listen For Signals

Pay close attention to the key topics, language, and issues that senior leadership discusses. Stay attuned to these signals as they could indicate a change in strategy or company goals. Adapt your work accordingly and stay ahead of the curve.

Put yourself in their shoes. What do they need?
