Communication styles, by percentage

Sometimes I’m asked about the percent distribution of the four different communication styles.

Evolved Metrics reports that:

  • D Style, “direct communicators” account for 9% of the world’s population,

  • i Style “influencer communicators” make up about 29%,

  • S Style “steady communicators” is 32% of the population, and

  • C Style “conscientious communicators” account for about 30%

The other question I’m sometimes asked is: Which style is best.

To this I say that no one style is better than the other, but if you are able to understand the communications needs of those you’re talking to, and yourself, you can adapt, and get both of your needs met.
