Communicate a decision
Ever spent energy getting buyin around a decision, only to botch the way it’s communicated to people it affects?
To keep people in the loop, Gino Wickman recommends a “solution statement,” which can be written, verbal, or both
A solution statement might look like this:
“Nicole will meet with John and discuss his replacement. She’ll offer him a transfer to another position, and if he doesn’t take it, we’ll make him available to industry.”
Clear, easy, and simple.
Clearly articulate what the decision is.
Tell who owns its implementation (only one person).
Share clear next steps.
Try it out and let me know how it goes.
