A good time to have a tough conversation
Umuganda means coming together with a common purpose to achieve an outcome. On the last Saturday of each month, Rwandans come together to build schools, medical centers and hydroelectric plants, or rehabilitate wetlands, or create agricultural plots.
After the work day is done, community members then meet to discuss important matters, including problems they or the community are facing. During these discussions, they propose solutions together.
There’s something to this if you’re worried about when to bring up a difficult topic. After you have done something that brings you closer to someone else, they’re more open to hearing what you have to say. Just be sure to focus on mutual objectives.
