3 great 1:1 questions
A leader I work with noticed that at her organization, managers only did 1:1 meetings when someone screwed up.
Of course, people weren’t showing up.
So she had her managers ask 3 questions at each of their 1:1s:
What are you most proud of since we last met?
What skill were you able to rely on to make that happen?
What impact did this have on other people?
I appreciate these questions because they help the employee and manager see the value they’re both bringing to the team and organization. This is confidence-building communication.
