3 great 1:1 questions

A leader I work with noticed that at her organization, managers only did 1:1 meetings when someone screwed up.

Of course, people weren’t showing up.

So she had her managers ask 3 questions at each of their 1:1s:

  1. What are you most proud of since we last met?

  2. What skill were you able to rely on to make that happen?

  3. What impact did this have on other people?

I appreciate these questions because they help the employee and manager see the value they’re both bringing to the team and organization. This is confidence-building communication.
