Because of the fact that

Here’s a phrase you can use to reduce miscommunication.

When you advise someone, preface it with some variation of “Because of the fact that…”

“Because of the fact that you said ______ I recommend that you ______.”

This does two things.

First, it forces you to fill in the blanks, for yourself and the other person.

Secondly, it helps the other person to clarify their own position, based on their perception of your understanding.
